*Lecture on 3 life-threatening medical emergencies.
-This will mainly focus on teamwork, mobilizing resources and resuscitation.
*Scripted scenario practice with coaching in real-time.
PART 3
This occurs after lunch.
A brief run-through of the up-coming simulation scenario and what we expect you to do.
PART 4
The simulation session. This is the fun part, and the highlight of the course.
Here you get to demonstrate to us some of the skills we have taught you.
This will be assessed.
PART 4
THE DEBRIEF COMBINED WITH AFTERNOON TEA
This is the other fun bit and I feel the most important part. This interactive part of the course, led by a qualified emergency medicine physician, is where I believe the most learning occurs. Right now the small amount of stress induced in nearly all people who participate in a sim, will prime your brain, making it ready to accept and retain knowledge.
Discussion and questions will be encouraged.
A certificate will be issued at the end of this session to all participants who pass the course. In the extremely unlikely event that some unforeseen problem occurs and you fail to attempt to provide oxygen to the manikin, we will provide you with a free session at a later date.
NB failure to successfully intubate will not result in failure of the course, providing some other method is used to maintain oxygenation of the manikin.
